James Vey was born in 1861 in St. John's. He died in 1923 at age 62. James opended a photographic studio in St. John's.He photographed the league champion Victorias hockey team in his studio in 1901. The Victorias, who were three-time champions of the St. John's Hockey League, posed in Vey's studio on March 6, 1901 for a team photo. This is the earliest known NL hockey photograph. Unfortunately, the location of the contents of Vey's studio is not known.
Elsie Holloway and her brother Robert (Bert) opened a photography studio in St. John’s in 1908.
Edward Ithel Bishop was born in 1883. He died in 1973. Bishop was the town photographer in Grand Falls from 1917 to 1949.
