Isaac Russell built a 200-seat arena for the 1934-35 season. The Bay Robert's skating rInk was a wooden structure with a round roof and a natural ice surface 68' x 165'. It closed ca. 1940.
Opened as the Harbour Grace Recreational Centre on January 25, 1958. Artificial ice was produced with refrigeration was piped from the fish plant owned by the Moores family.

The Lush brothers operated this rink in 1946-47 followed by Father McCarthy for the next two seasons from 1947-49. For the next two years the rink was operated by John Nolan and Frank Broderick. During its operation the rink was the largest ice surface in Newfoundland. The last game played at Hangar 12 was on March 21, 1955 between the Airport Club and The Legion of the Gander Senior League.
