October 1961 – The Lewisporte Lions Club started to build a new rink for the upcoming hockey season. (Lewisporte Pilot October , 1961 p.1)

April 1962 – Mr. Williams, Principal of Lewisporte Amalgamated School reported that “it is useless to attempt organized hockey unless a community has a rink with at least a roof over it.” (Lewisporte Pilot April 13, 1962 p10)

January 1973 – Notre Dame Intertown Hockey League Executive and schedule released. There were eight teams in the league. (Lewisporte Pilot January 19, 1973 p.9)
